AN tÓSTA (The Guesthouse)

Is ósta é an an saol daonna seo.

Ċuile ṁaidin tagann aoi nua;

Lúċáir éigean, dúlagar, suaraċas,

Tagann tuiscint fánaċ isteaċ

Mar ċuairteoir gan ċoinne.

Cuir fáilte ⁊ féile rompu uilig!

Fiú más slua mór bróin atá iontu

A ḋéanann scrios mór i do ṫeaċsa

Agus a ġoideann an troscán ar fad.

Fós caiṫ le ċaon acu mar uaisle.

Seans go mbeiḋ sé ḋo do ġlanaḋ amaċ

I gcór aoiḃneas breá nua.

An duḃsmaoineaṁ, an náire, an ṁailís,

Bí ag fanaċt orṫu ag an doras, ag gáire

Agus déan iad a ḟáiltiú isteaċ

Bíoḋ buíoċas agat as cibé a ṫagann.

Tá ċuile ċeann acu seolta ċugat

Mar ṫreoraí ón taoḃ ṫall.

THE GUEST HOUSE: This being human is a guesthouse. Every morning a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they are a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honourably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight. The dark thought, the shame, the malice. meet them at the door laughing and invite them in. Be grateful for whatever comes. because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.

Chuile mhaidin tagann aoi nua;

Lúcháir éigean, dúlagar, suarachas,

Tagann tuiscint fánach isteach

Mar chuairteoir gan choinne.

Cuir fáilte agus féile rompu uilig!

Fiú más slua mór bróin atá iontu

A dhéanann scrios mór i do theachsa

Agus a ghoideann an troscán ar fad.

Fós caith le chaon acu mar uaisle.

Seans go mbeidh sé dho do ghlanadh amach

I gcór aoibhneas breá nua.

An dubhsmaoineaṁ, an náire, an mhailís,

Bí ag fanacht orthu ag an doras, ag gáire

Agus déan iad a fháiltiú isteach

Bíodh buíochas agat as cibé a thagann.

Tá chuile cheann acu seolta chugat

Mar threoraí ón taobh thall.
